Portland architect Anne Callender came to our rescue. She designed a roof pitch, side porch, and square bay window that resembled other Munjoy Hill homes. Anne was patient. Anne was calm. She supplied the requisite set of seven drawings produced to the exacting standards of the City of Portland. We hashed out glitches during “wine time” at the Blue Spoon. I’m now convinced that some of the world’s great architecture happens on cocktail napkins.

We hired Anne Callender as the architect for our remodel of the Wolf Cove Inn in Poland, Maine. We walked through our thoughts on desired changes, but also asked Anne to think “outside the box” of what we described. We eventually selected one of her “outside the box” ideas and couldn’t be happier with the result. Anne stuck with us along the way through the design, permitting and demolition process until we had a complete set of drawings that satisfied our needs, as well as those of our tradesman and the regulatory authorities. The quality of her work and support were outstanding.

Arriving at our new woodworking shop and offices is a daily moment of pure happiness. And every night , when locking up and walking toward my truck for the drive home, I do so with a great sense of pride and satisfaction. While at my shop, the space for equipment, machines, tools , benches and millwork provides just what we need to mange our orders and projects with great efficiency and organization. The offices provide the quiet space needed to perform administrative tasks.

Nearly every day, I am the recipient of praise for the building’s exterior appearance creatively melding quietly and harmoniously with the park while demonstrating the latest architectural features and use of cost effective methods and materials. In short Joe…my home away from home exceeds my expectations and I could not be happier. From Zoning and Code Analysis to Design and Final Building Functions, you were 100% successful and I will remain forever grateful.

Anne Callender, the architect – head of her team, was attentive to our desires and energy efficiency, thoughtful, careful and creative in design, and excellent in overseeing construction. Created a wonderful house for us in a little over a year collaborating well with our builder.
